Safety and health hazard issues for job class: Santa Claus

  • Ergonomics issues (packages too heavy, poorly designed sacks)
  • Obesity
  • Respiratory protection (chimneys)
  • Binge eating and drinking (US: cookies & milk. UK: mince pie & sherry)
  • Influenza vector (all those kids on his lap!! Use hand sanitizer, and wash that beard daily!)
  • Vitamin D deficiency (it's dark at the North Pole)
  • Overexertion
  • Frostbite or hypothermia (probably only for exposed portions of face and ears)
  • Too many consecutive transport hours (drowsy driving)
  • Jet lag
  • Vehicle safety issues (unregistered, uninspected, and no safety belts)
  • Shift work
  • Working alone
